Or at least be someone who could make my life, all the hard stuff and annoying situations, all the happiness and great memories, all the cute skirts and tops I shouldn't have purchased, all the books I've read and funny movies I've seen, into a tangible piece of art. I don't really like the Dixie Chicks that much...I just happened to have a song of theirs in my head when I opened blogger up. I like them enough, I guess.
Well, it's been a long time since I wrote an entry in here. It's just too much work to make a blog. I think it's because I'm concerned with quality of writing. But, I'm not writing my memoirs or even a first novel. I'm just writing, so if I tell myself that and stop with the expectations maybe I'll be more inclined to write in here on a regular basis.
So here's what's going on that's NEW in my life:
I'm working at the Jackson-Lewis law firm in downtown Stamford. I don't really think it's that interesting but if you're inclined here's the company website: http://www.jacksonlewis.com. I get to answer the phone (it's really big phone with lots of buttons and little triangles next to extension numbers that tell you who's on the phone at a certain time), and greet guests (of which there aren't many), and most importantly check gmail too much, read the news, play diamond mine, look for perfumes, and check overstock.com for sheet sets. All in all, for a decent hourly rate and with a comfortable chair...I can't complain. Or rather I can complain but I won't.
I'm still applying for and anxiously awaiting news on a real job in New York. The real problem is that I'm freaking myself out about my job search. My freaking out can have two results: a) It can motivate me to apply for lots and lots of jobs or b) It can make me ignore the job search all together and spend my nights shopping or reading. I think tonight will be option "a".
My job leads at this time: Job with 'W' management in Soho area, Job with NBC/Universal Entertainment, Job with DAS Communications Ltd on Upper West Side, Job with someone my cousin might know in New York. HMM I guess it might not be so dismal?
I've gotten lots of cute new clothes and a few new pairs of shoes. That's an exciting update in my eyes.
My computer's hard-drive is faulty, so are its fan and CD/DVD drive. Donc, I am going to send in my computer tomorrow and have Dell fix everything for me. Tonight, not only will I be reading and going to bed by 9:30 (I promised myself), I will also be zipping my files and sending them to myself in e-mail form making them easy to download and install when I get my new hard drive.
I'm looking at apartments on craig's list every day but so far no keepers. It's too early to look...but next week-WHOA. It'll be busy.
This weekend I'm going to DC to visit! I'm REALLY excited now that the plans are coming together. Friday night-dinner and a movie with Julia chez elle. Saturday night-debauchery (I'm not even kidding) with Michelle, Gerardo, Melissa...chez eux. What a lucky girl I am!
